Susan G. Komen Idaho Montana is proud to present a luncheon with Komen Scholar and breast cancer researcher Dr. Joe Gray. Breast cancer survivors, health care professionals and cancer advocates in the Boise area are invited to learn about Dr. Gray’s breast cancer research and clinical trials at Oregon Health & Science University’s Knight Cancer Institute.
Dr. Gray is a researcher and frequent lecturer on metastatic – or Stage IV – breast cancer, a subject which is not just science for Dr. Gray, as his wife, Jane, is living with the disease. Dr. Gray is committed personally and professionally to developing durable and tolerable approaches to controlling metastatic breast cancer. We derive our hope and courage from the remarkable research results emerging daily from cancer research teams at the Knight Cancer Institute and around the world.
Dr. Gray’s research focuses on applying advanced measurement technologies to identify the genomic abnormalities that occur in breast cancers. Dr. Gray uses information from his studies to improve aspects of breast cancer management, ranging from early detection to better treatment of metastatic disease. Dr. Gray’s Komen supported research aims to understand how the environment that surrounds a tumor combined with the tumor’s genetics impact its response to therapy, with a special focus on HER2-positive tumors.
Tickets for the luncheon are $10 per person. Lunch will include herb grilled chicken breast with an olive oil and fresh herb rub served with roasted new potatoes, warm rolls and butter, mixed greens salad, and seasonal vegetables.
